Employer | Wellstream Inc.

Wellstream Corporation employed Mr. Tuohy as a consultant for the design of dynamic flexible riser systems, in Panama City, Florida. This was to be the first dynamic riser project for Wellstream to undertake. Since joining Wellstream he carried out the detailed design of the Uisge Gorm / Fife Field FPSO dynamic riser system, which was manufactured at the Wellstream facility, as well as the detailed design of the riser system for the ORYX Energy Vioska Knoll Spar development in the Gulf of Mexico, along with the interference analysis for the Golar Nor dynamic riser system in the North Sea. He also provided guidance on the system finite element modelling for the Shell Anasuria FPSO, (central North Sea). Mr. Tuohy designed a 6-inch 420-barg gas injection riser for the Njord field and the 6-inch 470-barg riser for the Visund field, both developments located in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. He determined the full-scale test programmes for the prototype risers for the dynamic test facilities at the Wellstream manufacturing plant.

Justin developed a training programme and trained engineers in dynamic analysis, while at the facility in Panama City.

During this period he designed a number of riser systems to support the bid proposals. Clients included: BP Exploration, ORYX Energy, TEC Ltd., (Kiame Development), MOHR R&E Inc., (Chevron – Green Canyon 205), Saipem, (Agip Aquila development), Amerada Hess, (Durward/Dauntless development), Schlumberger, (Soeker E-PT development).
