Summary
Mr Tuohy has significant experience in setting up and growing teams of diverse cultures to support international business, having lead teams in US, Brazil, Norway and UK. He had responsibility for establishing the European Technology HQ for a multinational. During this period he provided the catalyst for broadening the skill sets of his teams and implemented their career development plans.
A strong advocate of innovation he had responsibility for managing Intellectual Assets in many of his roles. He has been involved in a number of patent legal cases in various jurisdictions, (e.g., South Africa, USA). Justin is the holder of a number of patents.
Mr Tuohy was a lecturer on the MSc Degree course in Pipeline Engineering, at University of Newcastle upon Tyne, England from its inception. He also lectured at the WEGMET 27th School. Having delivered over six hundred presentations, to customers, stock market analysts, and in the public arena world-wide and author of over 20 publications, he is an experienced communicator.
Prior to returning to Ireland to pursue new ventures, Justin was Director of Product Strategy with a multinational. His worldwide brief included engaging with senior executives in multinational oil companies to ascertain their development visions for a 10 – 20 year horizon. Together with other colleagues on the strategy team they were responsible for shaping the investment portfolio within the Company.
Mr Tuohy joined iPM as Director, to foster the delivery of effective change programs to both public and private sector organisations, at various stages of maturity, encompassing project, program, portfolio and strategic levels, which are based on international best practice. He is the co-founder of earpeace™, a Start-up company, whose mission is to be an exemplar in the delivery of specific Healthcare Services. He has also joined the European Commission’s Research and Innovation Panel for Horizon 2020 as an External Expert.
Justin has an honours degree in Civil Engineering BE(Hons), and a Masters Degree in Structural design, MSc(Struct. Design). He is a Chartered Engineer (1995) and Fellow of Engineers Ireland [CEng, FIEI] (2002). He is also a Fellow of the Strategic Planning Society (UK) [FStratPS] (2012), and a Chartered European Engineer [Eur Ing, FEANI] (1995).
In a voluntary capacity he:
- chairs a ‘Chartered Engineer’ interview panel for Engineers Ireland,
- is an External Auditor for CPD Accredited Employer Standards,
- is a member of the team that published the Regional Sustainability Document “Engineering the West to 2020 – Reinventing our Region”
- is a member of the subcommittee who undertook the INF2012 project, and
- has been a member of Council at Engineers Ireland.
